The thermostat housing may leak. Several members here have complained of that. It can leak where it joins the water outlet at the red line. And it can leak where the hose attaches - orange arrow. The pipe indicated by the green arrow goes to the oil cooler (off to the left, under the exhaust manifold).
It would be uncommon for the 1.8 to have this happen. Lots of people don't realize the 1.4 has a turbo. If you have a LT/LTZ/green Eco badge on the trunk, it's actually the 1.4 turbo under the hood. If there is no badge on the right, and you have hubcaps rather than alloy wheels, you do indeed have the 1.8 non-turbo.
I checked the oil first thing this morning while the car was still cold. The oil level was on the bottom line above the hash marks. I added 24 ounces of oil to get it to the same level that it was at after I changed the oil. There was no oil dripping under the throttle body, but the hose clamp was covered in dirty oil. Had the dealership change the oil on our 13 Cruze w/1.8L engine, wife went in with 4 qts. and the tech at the dealership said it required 5 qts. So instead of letting the customer know to add (if required) 1 more qt of oil. We had 4 qts. of M1 5W30 and they added whatever the house oil is.
