A non-responsive Canon camera shutter button can be frustrating, but with the right knowledge and maintenance, many issues can be prevented or resolved. Regular cleaning and careful handling can go a long way in ensuring that your camera’s shutter button continues to work flawlessly, helping you capture the moments that matter most. The button called "AE lock" is active after the exposure is set "locked", then can be activated again when the button is held down and a picture is taken. When you release the button the camera will re-evaluate the exposure. Also, programmed a button for one shot-servo. If I am in one shot it only switches to servo while I am holding the button.

I was shooting outside last night in light snow, temperature just below freezing. I swapped lenses a couple of times (24-105 and 17-40) carefully. The problems didn't start until after
I use it for video and pictures but not all the time. I recently have bought a speedlight Yongnuo 560 III. When I was taking pictures with that speedlight on it, the camera started to act strangely, changing some settings itself. From that night, the MENU button, pictures preview and other external buttons are not functioning.
Based on the fact that you are able to AF in Auto mode and not Manual mode, does sound like it's something with the settings that are probably causing the issue. Try resetting the camera to default settings. Put the camera in P mode, hit MENU. In the MENU, scroll over to the yellow Wrench tab #4 and you should see Clear all camera settings

Switch the ON/Off switch to OFF. 4. Install a fully charged battery and wait until the red "Busy" lamp stops blinking. 5. Switch the camera back ON. Remember, the R5 is always partially powered up whenever a charged battery is installed. the only way to truly power it down and clear registers is to remove the battery. So the mechanical button works but the one under it might be stuck in the on position. That Deoxit D5 comes with a spray straw and 3 spray settings, high, medium and low. Cover the rest of the camera with a rag or paper towels so as to not make a big mess but do not worry it will not harm anything if some overspray goes on it.
Test the Power Button Again. Once you have checked for common problems after a camera drop, go ahead and try the power button again with your fingers crossed, while still holding the camera properly, of course! Don't forget to use a neck or shoulder strap. These are designed specifically to save your camera, should it slip out of your hands.
