If i remember right you need to stop in Elona to pick up the Skimmer because you need the skimmer to get up to the platform that takes you to the area were the Jackal is. Anyway the thing about our mounts and why you can not use skins on other mounts like the jackal skin on your raptor skin and so on is because the mounts are different.

Griffon makes lots of the Skyscale collections effortless, but that's the lowest benefit of getting Griffon. Definitely the best mount in my opinion by far, with Jackal being best land-only mount.
