There is a recipe for tier IV one handed sword that only uses wrought iron, and results in swords worth anywhere from 3500-7000. Or you can just make tier V two handed swords, which are easily worth 33k each. I use those to build my fortune and grind smithing, because there are much fewer parts for two handers, so you get to V tier much faster.
Start small grab a tier 3 clan with 3 people capable of starting parties that's 250 extra men in you army for like 70k. On a side note if you are really broke start smithing. Once you get to around 150 you can make tons of profit fast. At 200+ you can get clans with just a 2 handed sword or 2. I paid Simir a clan tier 6 with a sword and 100k.
